Frequently asked

Before you write to us.

A few of the questions we get asked most often — and the honest answers. If yours isn’t here, the inquiry form above is the right place.

Is the initial consultation free?

+
Yes. An initial consultation is offered at no charge and without obligation. We use the time to understand your matter, run a conflicts check, and give you an honest assessment of how we can help. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll say so and direct you to someone we trust.

How do you structure your fees?

+
Most engagements are billed on a time-cost basis in accordance with the Solicitors’ Remuneration Order. We also offer fixed fees for well-defined transactional matters. Every engagement begins with a written fee estimate so you know exactly where you stand before work commences.

Do you advise foreign clients and companies?

+
Yes. A significant part of our practice involves advising foreign investors, regional holding structures, and multinational entities on Malaysian law. We work closely with corresponding firms in Singapore, Hong Kong, and the Middle East where cross-jurisdictional advice is required.

What does Syariah compliance advisory involve?

+
We advise on the legal structuring of Islamic finance instruments — including Murabahah, Ijarah, Musharakah, and Sukuk — ensuring documentation aligns with both Syariah principles and Malaysian regulatory requirements under Bank Negara Malaysia guidelines. We also assist financial institutions with product compliance reviews.

How quickly can we get started?

+
For most new matters, we can complete intake and a conflicts check within 24 hours and begin substantive work the same business day. Time-sensitive or urgent matters should be flagged clearly in the inquiry form and followed up by telephone at +603-2148-7562.
